Hello Renegades,
Welcome to the end of March, and time for our regular bi-monthly update post. Not only has this week brought a changes of seasons, it's brought a long-awaited reward for backers!
Remember this Stretch Goal during the campaign? I know, it's hard to remember that far back, but we smashed it and unlocked a companion PDF.
And now that Stretch Goal is ready to go out to backers!
THE DEVOTED COMPANION
In the eyes of the Renegades, every conspiracy is a tightly managed organization comprised of faceless human monsters willing to commit any atrocity to advance its malevolent agenda. It is an oppressive structure bent on dominance through transgression. The Devoted are its brainwashed zealots and lab rats, its muscle and middle-managers, its magnum opuses and messiahs. Whether they do so blindly or knowingly, willingly or under protest, the Remade agents of the conspiracy have surrendered their humanity in the service of evil masters.
For those within it, though, the Web of Pain is not so monolithic. Conspiracies distinguish themselves from one another by their goals and methodologies. Some pursue knowledge and power at all costs, but others are motivated by higher ideals, for all that they must make hard choices in the pursuit of them. Within each conspiracy, individual personalities compete against one another for limited resources to further personal agendas — whether selfish, destructive, or altruistic.
As loyal servants of their conspiracy and executors of its will, the Devoted occupy important positions within the Web of Pain. Their abilities alone make them a valuable, often irreplaceable, resource. They are single-minded and doctrinaire in their pursuit of the organization’s Principles in a way selfish Baseline agents cannot match. An ambitious Deviant who earns a reputation for competence can attain a position of considerable influence within the conspiracy — or even become its master if she is ruthless enough. Who would dare oppose her then?
This book contains:
Expanded conspiracy mechanics, including guidance on conspiracy actions, Nodes, Icons, and Projects, as well as conspiracy advancement rules and the introduction of Privileges — Merit-like benefits that flow from a conspiracy’s Structural and Hierarchical Nodes.
New Merits, Forms, Variations, and Scars especially appropriate for Devoted characters, together with systems for working within a conspiracy — whether as a Linchpin or in another role.
Storytelling advice for Devoted chronicles, complete with additional storytelling axes and common narratives focused on the travails of a conspiracy’s most loyal agents.

This is the first version of TheDevotedCompanion to be released. We've sent you this Advance version because:
1) Onyx Path wants to get it to you as quickly as possible. The pandemic really hit the team hard and it took a while to get everything back on track, but your patience is really appreciated!
2) To thank you for your support! This project, literally, is a direct result of your support during the Kickstarter campaign. You deserve to see it before anyone else!
3) To make the final version the best it can be! The author, editing, and development teams have done their best to proofread and correct any errors and typos - but some always sneak through. If you catch any typos, incorrect math, visual glitches, and the like, we want to hear about them and correct them before we send the book off to print.
With that in mind, I'd like to introduce the DevotedDevotedCompanionFeedback Form!
They will keep errata collection open for the next 2 weeks, so please report what you can as soon as possible to make sure we're getting everything covered.
They won't be collecting errata from other spots, just this specific form. Please note this form will be for errata only - typos, incorrect math, page elements that overlap incorrectly, etc. It won't be for book discussion - you can do that in a different thread, or on the Kickstarter comments page.
Also, they already know about the Page XX notations - those are usually corrected after any changes are made and the books are being finalized.
After any needed corrections are made (based on your feedback!), we will prepare an updated final PDF version of the book and you will receive a notice from DrivethruRPG that you can re-download your file with the latest version.
You've already made this companion a reality with your Kickstarter support. Now you can make it even better by helping us crowdsource any minor errors and corrections.
STRETCH GOAL REWARD STILL PENDING
With The Devoted Companion out to backers, we're down to one final Stretch Goal reward to go, but it's a big one! Our other stretch goal supplement, the Clades Companion, is now the sole focus for the Deviant team. Hopefully we'll see it moving along in our next few updates.

Hello Renegades,
No big announcements to start off the new year, but our regular bi-monthly status check in. We've got two stretch goals still remaining, and I'll be back every other month to track their progress until they're both placed on your digital bookshelf.
One quick note, and then we'll check in and see where we're at.
The Onyx Path Chronicles of Darkness Forums Are Back!
After breaking under the strain of awesome threads, the Onyx Path team have re-vamped, repaired, and re-organized their forums. They work again! Feel free to drop by the Onyx Path Forums or any of the Chronicles-specific forums (and note that each line now has their own sub-forum as well!)
STRETCH GOAL REWARDS STILL PENDING
Over the year-end holidays, the artwork for the Devoted Companion went to Renegade for review and approval, and now the layout phase of production can begin. We're still at the early parts of that stage, but it's all coming together. Meanwhile, artwork is still being assigned and created for the Clades Companion. Bit-by-bit these last two pieces will work their way to us.
The most exciting part of 2022, of course, was having our hardcover books ship out and deliver to backers! Hopefully we'll see more buzz for this game when the stretch goal companions eventually release.

Hello Renegades,
Here we are in the final days of 2022 with our final bi-monthly update for Deviant. 2022 knocked the remaining Stretch Goal rewards for this project off track a bit, but I think the team have been working hard to get things back in gear, and I'm hopeful we'll see movement early in 2023. I think the Devoted Companion will be moving along early in the new year, and I'm excited about more Deviant material!
So, fingers crossed for 2023 and let's review where we are as we finish up 2022!

Our two companion books are finishing up in art direction. I think the final artwork for the Devoted Companion is set to deliver soon, so hopefully we'll get some previews as we slide into layout. I'll share whatever comes my way.

Hello Renegades,
We're crossing into the final days of October, so it's time for our regular month end update.
Although... I think I'm going to modify our schedule and send these out every other month, unless I've got some new Deviant information or there's a status change on our rewards.
We've just got the two final supplements, but the hurdles that have plagued everyone over the past few years keep popping up, and our Devoted and Clades supplements haven't quite yet managed to make it through that obstacle course. I know the internal plan is to have everything wrapped up as soon as possible, but what's "possible" continues to be a slippery slope. I talked about the logjam in art direction last month, and there are concrete efforts being made to clear up the schedule, but it's a process that probably doesn't need me commenting on it each month.
So, let's flip these to every other month so there's still some consistent and constant communication, and I promise to let you know any time there's bit of Deviant or related news or progress on our final Stretch Goal rewards.

Hello Renegades,
No major updates this month, but I still wanted to touch base to ensure you knew that Onyx Path was still working on our final two Stretch Goal rewards and remain dedicated to getting these supplements out to you.
So, let's review where we stand.
STRETCH GOAL REWARDS STILL PENDING
For a long time, there was a logjam of products in editing as the pandemic massively affected the schedules of that team. They've been working hard to clear up the pile of projects... but some of that buildup has been working it's way downstream and now there are a ton of manuscripts entering the art direction phase. There's a lot of mixed metaphors in there, but the Onyx Path team is working to continue to keep these projects moving along the progress path and eventually out to backers. It's a slow grind, but we will get there.
