Hello Renegades,
We've hit the last day of March 2020 (finally!), so I wanted to make sure we get our monthly update in under the wire. I hope everyone is keeping safe and doing the best possible under recent circumstances. The times are certainly challenging, but we can find strength with our community, our family, and especially within our friendships.

Memento: A man’s memory disorder and thirst for vengeance against his wife’s murderer drives him to frame innocent men so that he can bask in a moment of bloody revenge that he won’t remember. A significant inspiration for Conviction.
Robocop: A fatally-injured human Remade as an Invasive, complete with Scars of inhuman appearance and implanting behavioral limitations. Officer Murphy’s arc runs from unwitting Devoted through to Renegade, and finally manages to find middle-ground as a Guardian.
Books
Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde: Dr Jekyll triggers his own Divergence through chemical cocktails intended to suppress his darker urges. Instead, he unleashes the monstrous Mr. Hyde, who becomes increasingly dominant. Jekyll’s Scar begins as needing the cocktail to access his Variations, but over time the Scar shifts to requiring the chemicals to maintain any trace of his Jekyll self at all.
Games
Bioshock: A broken world where genetic tampering gives rise to fantastic powers, and all it costs is your sanity. Powerful men fight for control of the source of the power, whatever the cost to those around them.

February 2020 Update

Hello Renegades!
That's right! I'm a Renegade and I waited until February 29th to send this month-end update! Thank goodness for Leap Year!
We're still in the early early stages of our post-campaign, with lots of work ahead. So, no major announcements for this Leap Day. Instead, let's take a quick tour around the Chronicles of Darkness to see what else we've got going on...

The Geist: The Sin-Eaters book has shipped to kickstarter backers, and will very soon be released for purchase in PDF, Print-on-Demand, and hardcover format through our online partners and your favorite game and hobby shops. Mummy: The Curse recently joined the Chronicles of Darkness second edition format with a successful kickstarter campaign. Hunter: The Vigil is the latest Chronicles of Darkness kickstarter campaign, and, I believe, the final game in need of an update to the Second Edition format. We've got less than a week to go, and we're hoping to fund one or two more Stretch Goal additions and go out strong! Help us stand vigil and keep the darkness at bay AND complete your Chronicles of Darkness Second Edition collection!
Of course, when I start seeing all of those Chronicles of Darkness titles, I eventually start thinking about mashing them together. The Contagion Chronicle is an "Avengers-style" cross-over chronicle, building a framework to have characters from all of the different gamelines together to create an epic story.

Posting our month end update at the end of the month, everything seems to be on track. I think 2020 is going to be a year of moving projects forward, ensuring each stage of the process is honing the game into something awesome.

So, still in the most early stages of this project, with our main rulebook finishing up editing before another round of development before submitting to Review and Approval of the licensor. I think we may be able to sneak the T-shirt reward in fairly soon, though. I sort of want a shirt with "DEVIANT" in large text, mostly as a conversation starter. I'll have an update when that link is ready, so keep an eye out for it in the upcoming weeks.

Hunter: The Vigil Second Edition is a standalone game that can be played by new or existing players. The lore has been updated to not only reflect the uptick in monsters, but also the fact that hunting monsters is not exclusive to a location, group of people, or time period. There may be more monsters than ever before, but now there are more ways to fight them, too.
In Hunter: The Vigil, anyone can be a hunter — provided you are committed to the hunt. It is a game of personal horror and sacrifice that tests relationships and encourages teamwork within a cell, compact, or conspiracy.

2019 Year End Summary

Hello Renegades,
On this final day of 2019, I wanted to do a quick check in on our campaign and where we stand. The intention of this post is to both to look forward to what we can expect in 2020, and then take a moment to look at Onyx Path's journey over this past year.
James: The Renegades
In 2019, Deviant:The Renegades had a successful Kickstarter campaign, with 1,658 backers pledging $82,569 to help bring this project to life!
2020 should have great things in store for the Chronicles of Darkness. The community continues to grow, with the Contagion Chronicle, Deviant: The Renegades, and Mummy: The Curse Second Edition all in various production stages. Hopefully we'll see another second edition for a beloved property join their ranks in 2020! I'll keep you updated!

ONYX PATH ON KICKSTARTER IN 2019
Kickstarter continues to be an important part of the process for Onyx Path, and looking at the long list of projects in the works on the Monday Meeting Notes blog, it certainly looks like that’ll be the case in the new year.
Rather than just take pre-order for an upcoming project, Kickstarter has allowed Onyx Path to gauge interest in game lines (to see if they should develop additional projects beyond those offered during the campaign), and sometimes even add additional projects to a game line immediately via Stretch Goal achievements. More importantly, it’s a chance to interact with the community and for everyone to get involved from the earliest stages.
Looking at 2019, Onyx Path had 7 Kickstarter campaigns funded, as well as teaming up with Handiwork Games on a successful campaign for the Scarred Lands 5E Creature Collection.

First Kickstarter of 2020: Cults of the Blood Gods
In all of Vampire: The Masquerade's history, there's never been a book wholly dedicated to the diverse faiths and cults among Kindred, the ways in which they practice, their relationships with each other, and how to utilize religion in your chronicles as a force of hope and destruction.
Cults of the Blood Gods is the book you want, if you're interested in incorporating ecclesiastical horror in your games. This book contains everything you need to have each Kindred in your coterie establish a cult, cleave to a unique faith, and establish domains in the name of an ancient methuselah, being of myth, or even the Kindred protagonists themselves.
Not only that, it provides the tools necessary to play members of the Clan of Death, once known as the Cappadocians, then the Giovanni, and now the Hecata, as well as new powers for members of a large number of cults, rules for creating your own religions, and an entire story set in Munich with ready-made characters, so you can play immediately upon receipt of the book.

You remember this guy? It hasn't been that long!!
We're about to start getting into the regular rhythm of month-end status updates. It's a pretty involved and dynamic process, creating these books, so I want to ensure that I have constant and consistent communication with all backers. Each month, I'll be providing a status update for our rewards (usually nothing more complicated than "delivered" or "pending"), as well as sharing information about this project and other Onyx Path projects where possible.
Many of these updates will be similar - these projects take a fair amount of time to build, and some stages are multi-part processes, so a book in "Development" may not show incremental updates in our monthly summary, but there's always forward progress being made.
DIGITAL REWARD DISTRIBUTION
Many of the rewards for our kickstarter projects take a lot of time and effort to complete. Usually, the kickstarter is a means of moving the project from an idea (even when it's a mostly-fully-written idea) into the actual channel that turns it into a project/product. It'll be a while before we're ready to talk about delivery on Deviant: The Renegades, and even longer for the projects generated via Stretch Goals (CladesCompanion, Devoted Companion).
That said, there are a few rewards that are available now, as they were mostly add-on PDFs of existing products. And now, we can work on getting those out to you before the week ends.

In Mummy: The Curse, players take on the characters of the Arisen, humans who were subjects of the greatest magic ever worked by mortal hands, the Rite of Return, in the long-lost Nameless Empire. As part of the Rite, they underwent ritual death, and their souls were eternally bound to their mortal remains. Consequently, while the Arisen can be killed, they will always return, their bodies reforming anew.
Mummy: The Curse Second Edition includes all the rules you need to play as one of the Arisen: Decrees and Pillars that reflect the transformation by the Rite of Return, Utterances and Affinities as the powers you wield and the price you pay for them, magical relics and vessels for use or sacrifice, and all manner of antagonists from immortals to Shuankhsen and others besides.
